The early years of the 1997's

Following the demise of an older Baljaffray team in March 2006, 20 boys from Baljaffray Primary Kickaboot club were divided into a 1996 team and a 1997 team. They played their first game at Thomas Muir High School, Bishopbriggs on 15 April 2006 and were beaten 5-0. They have been learning ever since.

In April 2007 the boys played foreign opposition in the shape of Qormi of Malta and won 7-3.

In June 2008 the boys won the East Dunbartonshire Festival 7's Shield and the following year went back and won the 11's Cup.

Winning is good but just as important is the improvement in football and social skills that the boys are developing. I am proud of the fact that eight out of the 10 original players are still with the team.
